Australian Shephard and owner separated for a month, their emotional reunion is caught on camera

A month can feel like forever in the world of dogs.

Everyone has a different perception of time. In the world of dogs, a month can feel like a long time to be away from someone you love. They don't have the same mechanisms as humans to calm themselves down or even know why their loved one is away. We can understand time frames, but a dog can't. If their owner leaves, they actually don't know where the owner went or if he or she is ever coming back. That's exactly why the reunion can feel rejuvenating. Dogs form strong social bonds with their owners, and learn everything about their lives, voices, scents, routines, and habits. In the video below, the Australian Shephard already smells his owner before he sees him. He smells and goes for the scent, like he's on the hunt. He keeps looking in the direction of where the owner is hiding, until he spots him and the two are reunited. It's a heartwarming reaction, and it's the kind of video to make you smile on a day that needs a warm hug. Every dog expresses excitement differently, but love is love.

Pets have a way of becoming intertwined into the webs of our lives. You don't necessarily realize how much space they occupy in your everyday world until they're suddenly not there. That's part of what makes their existence in our lives simply so innocent. They really don't know the world around them, they're so dependent and reliant on us to help and take care of them, to love them. It's adorable in its own right. And a reunion can really inflate these kinds of feelings. There's such emotion in the notion that we could lose something and it can come back. There's so much pain that comes along with love, and an enthusiastic welcome is the bridge between sadness and wondering in a month apart, and a furrever love and connection.

I did a month away from my cat once a few years ago. My roommates took care of him, and cats aren't like dogs. They don't come running towards you for comfort and a greeting. They usually turn their back and approach you with skepticism.
